During my K–12 distance learning experiences, I used tools like Zoom, Google Classroom, and Microsoft Teams. With capabilities like screen sharing, breakout spaces, and collaborative documents that promoted connection and participation, these technologies offered crucial resources for distance learning. While Zoom's breakout rooms allowed for small group conversations that resembled in-person classes, Google Classroom was especially useful for assigning assignments and providing feedback. But even with these resources, it was difficult to stay focused and engaged in a completely virtual setting, particularly when there was little opportunity for in-person interaction. Although I haven't used them, I'd like to test interactive learning platforms like Flipgrid and Kahoot! since they seem to promote student participation and could make online learning more enjoyable and engaging.
Commons OER
Offering free access to a vast array of instructional materials for many subjects, grade levels, and languages, OER Commons is a public digital repository of open educational resources. Teachers can utilize and modify the platform's lesson plans, interactive exercises, textbooks, and videos to suit their classrooms' needs. Additionally, OER Commons offers resources for material creation and remixing, encouraging cooperation among educators around the world.
Teachers searching for high-quality, easily available resources that can be customized to fit their curriculum will find this resource especially helpful.
I learned new PowerPoint techniques while working on Assignment 4, such as how to insert multimedia information, create captivating slide transitions, and create unified visual themes. I discovered how to organize data to maintain audience interest while simplifying difficult subjects. Although I valued the chance to develop visual design, I found it difficult to strike a balance between text and images without overpowering the viewer. The next time, I would concentrate on streamlining my presentation, making the graphics simpler, and maybe incorporating interactive features like embedded quizzes or hyperlinks to increase audience participation even more.
